BMW Z4 E85 MK4 problem

So the situation, there were 3 languages on the mk4, all three were German ( which i found very strange since there are normally 3 different languages ).

I tried updating it with V32 but then it gave an error on the screen



Now the screen stays black.

If i enter another update cd ( tried V25/V30/V31/V32 ) it starts the update but again the same screen comes on and then dark.

Anyone who can help with fixing it?

Problem could happen because of a broken or bad laser pickup while the update was done. Did you try a power on reset and next question can you remove the Update CD. Even if you start any update procedures you need always a different build as the flashed version. I mean if the flash has V29 you need V30 or V32, always one version higher or lower. Try to reach the module with navcoder over IBUS, if you cant reach it I think the flash is faulty and no bootup is possible.

I have MK4 with similar symptoms. Screen stays black, dvd drive "seems" to start reading the disc but nothing to the screen. Cannot connect via diagnostics to the module, says "Busy". Anyone have dumps for MK4?

Make an oem v32 with mode2/form1 disc format and burn at the slowest rated speed of the blank disc

Unfortunately didn't helped either. Always the same screen comes up.

V32 original won't even start the mk4 update.

In the weekend i'm going to try connect to inpa.

When updating ignition must be on and door open, do this and you will have no Problems at all.

I 100% sure that problem is in laser try to clean eye with spirit if not help you then replace laser there are plenty at ebay

Shure it was the laser, bad jitter 100%.
If you replace only the laser you need a Jig for realignment. Without the software to store the new settings (tracking and focus) in the drive it is not possible. I tried it in the past and I have jitter meter and the complete measurement for broadcast stuff, even MD. This laser can handle doulbe layer DVD, so alignment is a must have for good results.

Buying a new whole drive is better, always provided, that the broken flash is not on the main unit.

Only laser is wasted money.
