Anyone knows information about 406 restyle remote key (2 button shape like 307, 206....)
I found part number is 6554RA (433mhz ASK) but i am not sure is it same remote as 307 ? i know blades are different but i am interested in remote only? tnx

Hi does your key have elctronic transponder
Or normal seperate transponder ?
If electronic you need a diagnostic device if it is normal you can manually program remote
Iwill post you the procedure for normal transponder tomorrow

You dont need any instructions, remote programming is done as any peugeot/citroen with separate tranponder - after key (tranponder) programming chanel for remote programming is opened , just give ignition with that key and in 10 seconds keep lock button pressed for 5 seconds and that is it.

My question was not programming procedure at all, it was is old 307 remote compatibile with 406 (same shape) remote, answer is no, you have to have part number for 406 remote.

This is a little off topic because it relates to programming 307 keys rather than 407 keys but 307's were mentioned in the OP.

I received a full 307 key recently from the Far East and a laser cut blade from the UK to swap out the blank blade from the Far East. As a noob I was thinking I could do the 10s and 5s coding as per the handbook and quoted on the internet.

I guess that only applies when the transponder has actually been "paired" to the car as per the comment in the last post of "after key (transponder) programming ... ".

The circuit board in the new key is very slightly different to the original PCB in that it appears to have the transponder on the board rather than it being separate on the original.

A few days ago I called the local Peugeot dealer and the one locksmith in the area that is known to do transponder programming. I was amazed when the offiicial Peugeot dealer said the cost would be just $20 to $25, whereas the locksmith said $50 to $70. I would have expected the quotes to be the other way round. Do remember though these were quotes over the phone based on what I told them about the parts I had and what needed to be done.

So I toddled off to the official dealer and when he saw the "new style" PCB he said no thanks you need to go to the locksmith I had already spoken to on the phone. He wasn't prepared to even try the transponder programming. Maybe as an official dealer he was worried it would destroy his kit or wasn't happy we weren't using Peugeot official PCB's.

He said when I go to the local locksmith, that the locksmith will then contact the Peugeot dealer for my PIN code as I don't have it. The dealer said they would then EMAIL Peugeot in France for my code. I asked how long will all this take and they said they didn't know as they need to wait for the reply from Peugeot.

So in the end I walked out and haven't been to the local locksmith either. Now looking at obtaining the hardware to program the transponder myself.

Has anyone used the "new style" boards with the transponder on the PCB and did it all go well.

P.S. I'm hoping that some nice cartechnology person will do me a VIN to PIN at some stage

I haven't purchased any hardware yet to read the BSI and obtain the dump.
