Nerds perspective - How to set up connection interfaces for ISTA, ESYS, INPA
I have read a post in which a member seems to suggest that the IP address should be static for ISTAP use with ICOM. This is the first time I have come across such advise. I am seeking advise, affirmation, correction on the following scenarios for proper use of these BMW tools all in one computer, BMW standard tools (INPA,NCS Expert, e.t.c), ISTA+, ISTAP, ESYS)

1. K+DCAN and INPA - EDIABAS interface should be STD:OBD, TCP remote host should be 192.168.68.40. OBD.INI should have hardware=OBD and port =Com1 or whichever port was set up for USB (Question - after installing BMW tools, my ediabas remote host changed to some funny characters close to LCMxxxx, with these nothing could connect to the car (Fseries,)

2. K+DCAN and ISTA- EDIABAS interface should be STD:OBD, TCP remote host should be 192.168.68.40. Do not bother with obd.ini. Change connection type to Ediabas for ISTAD or ISTA+(Question, what is the meaning of this TCP remote host in ediabas? Is it the cars IP address? If so is it not static always?

3. ENET and ISTAP- EDIABAS interface should be ENET, TCP remote host should not be changed, mine reads 192.168.68.40. Do not bother with obd.ini. With ISTAD, change configuration in VCI tab to any other apart from Ediabas.

4. ENET + Esys - No changes necessary from my experience as long as ZWG search reveals the cars IP address. Seems Esys does not use Ediabas!!

4. ICOM+ BMW tools (INPA) - No idea how to set that up!

5. ICOM+Esys - Open Itool radar, reserve ICOM, in Esys connection GUI, use "connect via ICOM/ENET and use the IP as per Itoolradar. Not sure how the other option of connect by URL works!!

6. ICOM+ISTA- In ISTAD use any other configuration apart from Ediabas, EDIABAS TCP to remain 192.168.68.40. Interface to be changed to REMOTE. I understand with ISTAP the IP should be made static. I am not sure how that is done since reserving IP with Itoolradar will never allow ISTAP to connect.

Advise needed on that!!

E-series - K+DCAN, ICOM will work
F-Series - K+DCAN, ENET and ICOM will work but ISTAP with K+DCAN, no chance!
