Transponder chips arrived pretty quickly from the Far East.

I put one in to a second hand Peugeot key that I picked up on Ebay and went off to the Peugeot dealer.

His PP2000 sorted out the immobiliser but even though he tried several times he couldn't get remote locking to work. Not a big issue as our original key still works fine.

Coming back to PCB with onboard transponder coil do I just pull of the coil part and add one of my spare virgin transponders in the chip holder? Presumably if I went back to the dealer he could also sort out the immobiliser for this 3rd key but again without remote locking feature.

Back to re-read my post #7 ! The way PSA used to teach-in the remote ID to the BSI is via the transponder USER0-3 while key programming. Did you think using the transponder from somewhere else without programming the remote ID into it then the remote will be working ?

Simple answer yes I did. As a novice I can't see why the "from somewhere else" has anything to do with whether it works or not. The transponders from the Far East are good enough to sort out the immobiliser so I don't see why they are not capable of handling the simpler remote locking.

I would see the immobiliser as being more difficult to hack / clone as it means you get to drive the car away whereas remote locking simply opens the doors.

Having never used PP2000 I have no idea what user 0 to 3 is but I was expecting the Peugeot dealer to know the procedure. I'm still unclear from your posts what the problem is. I have one fully working key and I was expecting to be able to have 2 or 3 duplicate keys with the virgin transponders.

My old text was 'If you are working with keys and having tools' I mean the tool for reading transponder. And from part of your later post I thought you did but now realise that you might not have one. So there is nothing to gain you idea of what USER0-3 is. It's the point to begin to make the remote working !

On the other hand, the remote and the transponder from Peugeot (even the Chinese ones) are paired form the factory. Now, we are discussing and moving on how to make the transponder 'from somewhere else' as a pair to your remote !

But surely the factory "pairing" is done with something like PP2000 which my local Peugeot dealer has?
