I've got an EVG7 DL46 that used to work with Windows XP and an older version of Xentry/DAS. The operating system started having issues on startup. I think someone installed a free antivirus software package that removed essential files for Windows/Xentry.

Anyway, I had to reinstall windows and DAS/Xentry. I do not know where the discs that came with the unit are (we've had it quite a long time, I believe it was a copy anyway). I installed windows XP and tried a Dll'd version of Xentry but due to the install instructions not relating to the download and missing files I could not complete the install. I then got a newer version of Xentry from this forum (many thanks) and tried to install it, only to find out it wouldn't run on WinXP. I then installed Windows 7 (after finding drivers for the thing) and Xentry. All good, I was then supplied with the starkey (again thanks to this forum). I have set up communication with the SDconnect C4 unit.

My problem is when I launch the Xentry program the initial splash screen appears but then it just quits and leaves me with only the desktop.

Would anyone know the reason for this? I don't know if the install has failed although everything seemed to install correctly, or the EVG just isn't up to running the newer operating system and software? I don't get any error messages or info of any kind.

Any help appreciated.

You left out important details... such as which xentry version you installed, and what the date was set at on your computer.

The version I installed is - Xentry.OpenShell.XDOS.v15.12.5.2015.12

I installed it with the current date, I guess this was wrong?

The starkey is from 09/10/2017 to 09/10/2022.

If I change the date on the EVG to an earlier date eg, 2015 I then get a message saying 'No access authorization code...'

Should I uninstall Xentry, change the date on the EVG, install again, then try with the current code I have? Or a clean install again, and install Xentry with the date set at say 01/2016?

You need to set back your system time, and then redo your start key center license. If you don't have the correct license fix, then disable internet so you don't lose the key every time.

No reinstall needed.

You have to be aware that you have 2 separate issues.

1. Xentry 12.2015 is made to run for around 6 months (it may be more or less). After that, it will not boot Xentry.

2. Xentry and Startkeycenter check your license (fake from a keygen) against their database on the internet. If it's not legitimate, your license will be deleted.

I ran into the same problem with XDOS 07.2017 I tried every possible fix no joy. I then reinstalled it worked fine after that.

I ran into the same problem with XDOS 07.2017 I tried every possible fix no joy. I then reinstalled it worked fine after that.

Use Glintwebs Xentry patcher, that has the neccessary fix for the 06m timeout issue.
