KIA Rondo 2007, V6, 2.7L. Got used ECU (PCM) that is from exactly the same vehicle, same year, same model number (DELPHI 39109-3E621).
As this KIA has immobilizer (SMARTRA) and as per kia manual ECU replacement procedure, required is PIN number (from VIN) and VIN number in ECU needs to be changed. VIN number on replacement ECU is almost the same as on my car as both are produced almost at the same time but that is not 'good' enough.
ECU type is DELPHI MT38 and other than on Russian sites I could not find that anyone has played with this ECU even though it is used in number of KIA/Hyndai cars.
Even Russian sites mostly are describing MT38 tunning but nothing about immobilizer.
I know that G-SCAN and some other high end scanners can do this and probably newest GDS VCI but is there any other way?
I am new to anything with cars and reason I want to know is just to have a spare functional ECU as new one is around $1000. So obviously don't want to spend to much money on all this.
Is there any other software or tool that can 'figure' where PIN and VIN are storred in ECU? I've seen some videos on Toyota ECU but no idea how anyone can figure where key codes are as they are not changing?
Data exchange between ECU and immobilizer ignition key is through SMARTRA unit and serial line between ECU and smartra. I don't know where this serial line connects inside ECU. I know the pin and I've opened ECU but most of ECU is on the other side of the board. Only way to remove the board would be to desolder two Delphi 80-pin connectors or to cut 3mm aluminum thick housing on the MILL. Even if I could trace this line (is it K-line?) I am not sure that would help. Not a single visible component on the board I was able to identify searching the web.
