Hi guys.

I have a small problem here. I made a Lenovo X220 with Win7 32bit and installed/updated Diagbox up until version 7.83, all activated and working.

But when I cloned the harddrive to another identical X220 laptop (had a little fight with the IDE/AHCI thing, but that is sorted), it says that Diagbox is not activated, and does not give me the option to manually activate. Only automatic, and it fails because of no internet connection (obviously). Might be something to do with the PC-identifier number in Diagbox?

Can I somehow activate it, or am I forced to (God forbid) reinstall from scratch?

How you clone hdd

Of course it will not work, even if you put your original hard disk into the other "identical" laptop.

That's because the PC ID, which defines the computer's identity, is compiled out of components' ID's, including CPU, Hard Disk, Network Card, Motherboard. So, if you change your network card, it will also stop working.

However, changing the Video Card is safe (as far as I remember). You can only clone installations on Virtual Machines, because all these components are actually virtual and you easily change their IDs and maintain the original IDs.
