I had the same problem. Make sure that the handbrake is off and you don't press the brake pedal while resetting and also make sure that your brake sensor is working correct. you can measure it out.

What about software in DSC? have you update it?

Thats the point, the brake pad sensor must be new to reset the value successfully.
That's really not true. The sensor measures pad thickness. It has a 2 pin connector. There is no sensor id or anything, so there is absolutely no way for CIC to know if sensor has been replaced or not.
The percentage that OP gets is exactly the reading from the sensor in mm divided by default new pad thickness.
Showing remaining km 0 could mean that for some reason default pad km interval was set to something way to small.
Usually after resetting a service interval there is also an option to change default km interval, i.e. to reset it back to something like 50'000km.

This is not true either.

The sensor is simply a piece of wire embedded in plastic that provides a short circuit to the ecu until it is worn away and goes open circuit to show the pads are at a minimum safe level. This is why you need to replace it when the red light comes on the dashboard and also why you don't need to replace it if it is not worn away.

There is no way that the sensor has circuitry to measure the thickness of the pad in a part that costs only $10. Also it would be incredibly difficult in a two wire circuit to get a decent measurement of wear especially with all the metal around it and electrical noise when the cable isn't even shielded or twisted pair.

If it was a piece of circuitry then BMW would place it further from the disc so it wouldn't get worn away. Instead they look at it as a consumable and allow it to get worn down.

The decrease in mileage in the CBS is simply it monitoring your driving style and making an estimate of wear on the pads. This is why it needs the sensor to make sure you don't go beyond the safe minimum by wearing out at that point. The replacing of the open circuit part with a new short circuit one is how the CIC knows it has been replaced.

Simply measure the resistance of a new sensor and compare it to one that has worn away. 1 ohm versus open circuit.

Hi, everyone. First thank you for tips. Second, sorry for not writing solution sooner wink

Problem has been solved by updating DSC via ESys, and after that i could reset brake pads successfully!

Thanks for the update but why would this be the case? What was wrong with the previous DSC swfl or CAFD that would cause it to fail to reset? I would be quite interested in understanding the why rather than the how. Very useful for diagnosis of related problems.
