RE: BMW i3 programming ista-p do I need use extra power source?
Car was built in march 2016 so I assume that it's not needed anymore? So I just need to connect external power source and I'm ready to go? Thanks.

Yeah, but Winter wrote:

RE: BMW i3 programming ista-p do I need use extra power source?
1ste step: open the engine hood in front
2de step: Close the car and wait for the start stop light to go out 3de step: disconnect the HV switch under the plastiek cover near the left headlight 4de step: lock the switch with a lock 5de step: open the car, press the start stop button and watch if you get a red notification HV disabeld. (IF NOT: Close car and reconnect the HV switch and repait from step 2) 6de step: Open the trunk. Unscrew the bolts from the plate in the buttom trunk 7de step: Put 12V charcher on the 12V points on the EME 8de step: program the car !! Never switch the HV switch to off when the car is not in sleep (start stop light off) This will damage the relais in the HV accu. You can do it about 10 times without letting the car sleep before you have to change the s-box in the HV accu. !! Never switch it back on without turning the car off (here it doesn't have to be in sleep mode) !! I don't care what I -level the car is. Always do it like this. If something go wrong during programming you will be f*cked!!! These or the official guidlines that I have from BMW. I'm a certified BMW i-technician. And I'm not responsible for it if something go wrong. Good luck and think twice when working on EV's!! |

Hi guys,
I did programming today and all went well. I didn't have to disconnect anything, just opened trunk and connected power charger to EME. |

For example, if you program the car and the program crashes or there is a fault during programming and one of the HV compound fales, you can not say 100% sure that the car is save to work on if you should replace something! Please don't put your self at risk!! I did alot i models. And it went wrong a couple of times so I did need to replace some parts... Do not put other people at risk by guess work. It's 400V DC. It is deadly. We need a week of training before we can work on that car. People here on the forums don't have any idea where the danger is. It is not that allot of work. Just do it. |
