Wireless ICOM setup
Hi, I have an original A2 ICOM and a standalone ISID (ISTA/P, ISTA/D) setup. I am trying to make it work wireless.
Does anyone know if I can do it adhoc (Laptop to ICOM) or I need a router connected to Laptop? Is there anything I need to know about the router settings or Settings in the ISID setup? Any help would be appreciated. |

No it works fine with most setups
do you have the wifi cards? I used £10 ones from ebay and they worked a charm |

RE: Wireless ICOM setup
The ICOM is original so it has the wifi card build in.
Can it work with the laptop without router? How should I setup the router? (IP, dhcp ect) |

RE: Wireless ICOM setup
You setup the ICOM not the router
make a wireless network on the router with say WPA2 security and then configure the ICOME using its web interface to join it |

RE: Wireless ICOM setup
Here's a card that works
Atheros AR9160 Mini PCI ABGN 802.11N 300M WIFI Wireless Card http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/181107878143 If you want to connect your icom direct over wi-fi to your laptop without a router here's a method that may work (untested with icom but works when connecting 2 laptops together wirelessly). Hosted network procedure for windows 8. Step 1: Launch an elevated command prompt (one with administrator privileges). Step 2: Run the following command to verify that your network interface supports virtualization: netsh wlan show drivers If Hosted network supported says Yes, you’re all set. Step 3: Now, set up the ad hoc wireless network using this command. Replace the parts in markup tags with your own choices netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=<enter_network_name_here> key=<enter_password_here> example: netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=mylaptop key=12345678 Step 4: Now your hosted network has been created. Now, you need to start it. Use the command below: netsh wlan start hostednetwork Step 5: Change your ICOM wireless setting (SSID and WPA2 key) to match your newly created wifi access point. Note: your hosted wireless network connection will need restarting if you reboot your computer. Use the attached batch file to restart it (must be run "as administrator"). |
