actually I want to recover a FRM3 of a BMW. I read alot about it in a forum and ppl say the 5.55 is working well with it.

I am new to Xprog and bought a clone with dongle and software (I havent received it yet). After checking the description there was nothing about a AUTH for this Typ. Actually my question is will I be able to read and write dflash/eeeprom of the 9S12? 

If not is there any way to do something or should I replace the x-prog. In some other descriptions there are texts about "AUTH for 9S12"

Is the Authentification relevant to the Hardware/Device or the Software? 

2. There is no external power supply adapter in that offer. Some ppl say I dont need it, others means it only worked with it. Which kind of Power Supply do I need for it? Inside description I found "15V DC " but what kind of connector?

My Xprog clone gave me a lot of trouble with FRM, constant verify errors and misidentification of the MCU ID. Eventually I bought an Orange5 for the job.

My Xprog seemed to have been more faulty than others, so this may not be the case for you.

Yes I know the things about internet and antivirus. Later I will give it a try. Lets see if everything works. I will set up a new partition with Windows 7 (or is win xp better?) without any internet drivers. 
Well if I should get a faulty one two I will replace it with a Orange5 (I also saw that orange5 is also able to do this, but there are less information for a newbie)

Near same for me first I had to rework the whole PCB, replcae the pol. caps against tantalum caps, like the original programmer. On some units the PSU had to less voltage and the included software was a joke, nothing more.

I made a mod were I can change the firmware of the unit from outside, without to open the unit.
Now it looks good, but at least everything too time consumption.

My XPROG works with other MCUs, but I think mine needs a rework.
Orange5 is so much better. Maybe xprog is beneficial for CAS.
