Big problem E83 MSV80.1 EWS 4.4, Corrupt DME
An E83 had faulty intake vanos and check engine. An attempt was made to mask error by deleting it from dump as spare sprocket was ordered. DME was read with KESS and full read selected.

After witting the dump, car could not move, lack of torque. Original dump was written to DME, no change. Airmass faults.

Replaced DME and EWS from another car. Engine starts, runs OK. Swapped key chip between donor and original key so that we could use cars original key, no start!!

Strangely, donor key and EWS start car but remote does not work. Tried manual synchronization, nothing. My questions thus

1. Why is DME corrupt and why is it not correcting when original dump is written? Maybe kess can read some sectors but cant write back to them?

2. Why is remote of donor key not working? Frequency OK, battery OK. Could it be vin mismatch?

3. Is the key blade an electronic? Swapping key chips + matching barrel results in cluster on but no crank at all!!

Any ideas are welcome. MSV80.1 is a handful ECU happy

The key has three things to do in one panel!
- providing immo solution (EWS)
- remote control (GM door opening)
- battery charging (this is common to both systems in same panel) via immo antenna to the remote battery, but two separate system.
If the immo works (EWS), the remote function is an other procedure to configure with GM modul.

MSV80 is not so esy! But I am not an expert in this.

Any idea what I need to do on remote to make it function? Initialise with ISTA?

RE: Big problem E83 MSV80.1 EWS 4.4, Corrupt DME
- open the car with key,
- sit in, close all doors,
- put the key in ignition and less then 5 sec switch to Radio position (not pos 1, only R) initialized phase,
- hold it pressed the "open" button during this press the "logo" button tree times,
- when you release the button lock and unlock the central lock, confirmed the learning process

Tried that 10 times, even tried ignition position 2. Problem is ews is from different car so cant open door with key!! Ill copy isn from replacement ews to old ews and try with cars key and ews.

Did not work! And this ECU is not in Ktag. Will try read another RCU with explorer and write to damaged ECU and test.

RE: Big problem E83 MSV80.1 EWS 4.4, Corrupt DME
Sorry,
If you use other EWS+ DME how you can make ignition? Only with original key, but the other EWS read then the original key and not what belongs to it! or?
You put an other antenna and in this put the key from other EWS witch is yous!
If you want to learn other keys for remote then no key should be detected in the EWS.

otherwise
if there is another DME with the associated EWS and key, then enough to read the ISN and the rolling code from donor EWS, and write in to the car EWS then the keys may remain original witch is open the doors, work in the ignition column...

A complete reflash with WinKFP of both programming section and calibration (data section) will get it back to original state. Coding with NCS Expert too.

If that doesn't fix anything, then it is a hardware problem.

Yes, copied ISN from donor EWS to original EWS so will try with original EWS+Donor DME+Donor EWS ISN in Original EWS. Align rolling code if it applies and attempt a start. Will report. So this way Key and EWS in use belong to car but DME from another car and DME ISN is now in original EWS. Wish me luck!
