Hi all, ive got a 2003 bmw e46 automatic 318ti which wont crank and ews shows starter not enabled due to p / n switch but ive gone through everything and changed shifter switch at fault inside of gearbox. (sliding tracks corroded beyond repair)

anyway, i think problem may lie with ews not releasing the command and think it might be a software problem. Is it possible to reflash ews with new software, and more importantly how can you do this?
ive got an understanding of auto electronics, so not from scratch. got a Panasonic Toughbook with obd cables that connect via com 9 pin if you could help would be greatly appreciated many thanks mike

The problem is in RED. You have to fix the P/N switch first because the automatic transmission engine won't crank when it's in gear.
