So you want lamer answer? OK. BMW did not think about such feature in F series. But then added it to G series. And as they are not known to add new features to older cars, so they did not add it retroactively.

You could take older PSdZ datas (when F series was in production) and check whether that setting was there. Most probably it was not and was added when G series were released.
