Difference between program and code ISTA/P
Using ISTA/P for updating software, when using Expert Mode you can hide all actions and choose to either Program, Replace or Code that particular ECU.
What is the difference in Code and Program ?. Also to update Retrofit NBT with ISTA/P would it cause issues with FSC codes etc ?. Thanks in advance. |

Code - able/unable options and function of ECU - like DRL on FRM. Program - write new version software in ECU or update the existing. |

RE: Difference between program and code ISTA/P
Many people confuse
Developer Version INPA E-Sys Technician Version ISTA Technicians are there to repair and NOT TO DEVELOP Developers are there to Develop and NOT TOO FIX First Technicians Replace Modules Then Program Then Code for Options If any of my posts or current one helps then don't forget to press thanks and add a reputation

RE: Difference between program and code ISTA/P
It is true, ISPA-p do coding based on VO and retrofit based on your VO(again) and production date.
It has some basic coding as of changing type and capacity of battery, navi language, enable/disable some features and so forth. But it has nothing to do with the individual coding which other programs are capable of (NCSExpert for E series and E-Sys for F). Some friends call this "fine coding". I suppose it comes from "fine tunning" as on TVs. Programming is simply flashing the module with it's software. WINKFP is doing that for E series, E-sys for F series. Of course ISTA-p can also flash single module when Expert mode is enabled. Cheers! |

RE: Difference between program and code ISTA/P
You can use INPA when your control units are all stock and you just want to use the factory provided options for coding, retrofitting, repair and updating the control units software.
You usually use NCSExpert for more advanced coding (you've got more options available) and for non factory refits, f.e. NBT unit into E9x models et. al. |
