ZVW  2015 Passat DSG Mechatronics Issue Please Help
Hello there,

I have a 2015 VW Passat TDI SE 2.0 VIN# 1VWBV7A39FC024779 that was in a front end collision. Damaged the J743 Mechatronic connector, wiring, and transmission oil pan. My friend had a 2012 Passat with VIN# 1VWCM7A37CC026274 with 134K miles that had a “good” mechatronic unit, wiring and transmission oil pan, so I purchased from him, removed parts, cut the wiring and spliced it onto mine.

At the time, it seemed everything is interchangeable so I did so. Unfortunately before I did the swap I didn't know I needed to copy coding from it before removing, but I wouldn't be able to do that even if I could as the connector for mechatronics was damaged anyway.

Mechatronic unit from my car is: 02E927770AL
Mechatronic unit from parts car: 02E927770AL

After installing, I get code 19143:004 / Unexpected Mechanical Gear Disengagement – No Signal/Communication. I try to do Basic Settings & Adaptation with Autel Maxisys Scanner. Basic Settings Completed, Adaptation cannot complete, will not go further than 1st gear, and when transmission is warm, will not go into reverse. Get the blinking PRND light on the dash.

Checked the oil level via repair manual and that is correct.

Mechatronic, Connector, and PINOUT Images - Here you can see all the attached images I used for diagram and my part numbers

I assumed maybe when I repaired wiring and installed connector from parts car, maybe it is different from mine, and used ProDemand/Identifix to look at Pin Locations, removed all PIN’s and placed in what spots/by color wiring where it should be. (But stupidly did not take a picture before I removed them) Now I have no communication with TCM. Looks like wiring diagram/pinouts are not correct or I did something wrong, original pin connection had no problem outside of the DTC. Above is the link to the VW Diagram for Mechatronic Connector. Another problem is PIN 17 does not exist on the schematic, but for my car it is “P-N Output to Vehicle electrical system control module” so I put it where I saw others had theirs on the internet and that didn't work because I could not really find a clear picture.

Does anyone have a picture of front/rear of their mechatronic connector so I can place the pins in the correct spot?

Also, is the used Mechatronic unit compatible but because of high mileage (134k miles) may be already bad to begin with? Did I just need software update or should I buy another Mechatronic unit? How to I figure out my original pin connections to Mechatronic unit?

If I do just need to update software for mechatronic unit, can this be done with ODIS offline with the correct files? If so how do I do this? Or can I do it with my Autel Maxisys scanner that has current subscription?

Anyone can help I am willing to pay to resolve this. Thank you.

Did not touch immo as mine is just before the immobilized the unit. DQ250 02E927770AQ Units and newer are immobilized units as explained on evosoft . dk/tech.html

Today I solved the pinout issue after looking at proper diagram. Here is the diagram, this is from a DQ250 ECU Reader/Writer, I had more wires, (8 total) but I just followed the wiring diagram and what number to place what wire.

So just the error code is left.

In ODIS this is the information about the 2012 DSG from parts car:

System Identification: GSG DSG AG6 511
Part Number: 02E30057G
Software Version: 2701
Hardware Part#: 02E927770AL
Hardware Version: 351

Is this unit compatible with my car? What do I need to do? Basic Settings and thats it or do I need to update software for it to work properly?

After some research, yes I'm getting that code because although the hardware is the same from used parts car, the software is for a 3.6L engine instead of my 2.0 TDI.

So I need the correct software for my VIN and engine, and since I don't have the original mechatronic unit, I cannot pull it from that one.

That is the question that I need answered. I've already spent almost $500 on software. First ODIS-S, but that just gives me diagnostics, then found out I need ODIS-E to be able to flash correct software.

But now I don't know what is the correct software. This is so frustrating.[Image: fail.gif]

RE: 2015 Passat DSG Mechatronics Issue Please Help
In case someone else has this issue in the future, I found the solution.

Thank you for that Mex165, those files are 02E.300.062.B, not sure they have same gear ratio. They are for same 2.0TDI 103kw CR engine but mine is CVCA.

I needed files for 02E300061T and a DSG specialist found this one for me that worked: v069T71602ec__getriebe_DSG_EPT7_sw

Programming with ODIS-E 14.1 did not work with Bosch MDI, it failed multiple times, but with Autel J2534 I was able to load it, and it seems to work great.

Thank you everyone!
