Hi Guys

I have started my third project for the year and this time its and 2003 Audi A3(8P) 2.0TDI. I bought it from salvage as usual hoping to return it to its former glory drive it for a while and sell it.

The previous owner installed leds all over the car that caused errors ever where. Half the fuses in the engine and side of the dash were missing the front or rear wiper wasn't working the air intake was missing number plate lights not working and the cooling fans not working the list goes on.

I have fixed everything and just as I am bout the list the car up for sale the AC is not working and the econ light will not turn off. Not only that but the replacement cooling fans fitted keeps kicking in every few minutes and the temp gauge is stuck on cold.

Question is could it be - temperature sensor, some other sensor compressor or head gasket. reason I asked head-gasket is because i notice I keep having to fill the coolant reservoir.

Without diag faults nobody can help you m8....

Econ light on all time leads to aircon gas low or high pressure sensor not working.

You could use the hidden climatronic's code to view the value of T° Sensor.Touch in same time Econ Touch and Flow High to access hidden menu.

Filling the coolant reservoir should be your first hint. Gaskets, EGR Cooler, mechanical parts, heater core, a very big airlock ... can be anything but repairing the leak and posting some diagnostic scans with faults may be better than guessing and exchanging un-needed parts.
Pressure test the cooling system when cold and look for the leak.
