I'm not sure if there's a retrofit section but ill post this here.


I drive a 14 Q5, I want to upgrade the standard MMI 3G to MIB2. I also want google earth + VC. and upgrade the old 3g connection to 4g LTE. I have searched google for any information about this swap but have come up short. I decided to just wing it and test it for myself. To begin I need the pinout Diagram for both large black connectors on the back of each head unit so I can create a wiring harness and test functionality.


Steps I created to perform. (work in progress)
Progress 
Step 1 - plug in VC and confirm communication to 17 instrument cluster. Test & Report (In progress)
Step 2 - find pinout wiring diagram for MMI 3G & MIB2, create wiring harness. (Search in progress)
Step 3 - Plug in new MIB2 test & report
Step 3 - Confirm functionality communication between MIB2, Media Controller, Volume Controller, Virtual Cockpit & OBD2 diagnostics interface.
Step 4 - Install steering wheel and confirm media controls work and View button for VC
Step 5 - remove component protection from for VC and Media Controller. 
Step 6 - remove component protection from MIB2 from Green Engineering Menu script.
Step 7 - perform coding to cluster to match vehicle image to Q5 instead of A4
Step 8 - perform coding to MIB2 5F to match vehicle specs.
Step 9 - connect 4g LTE antennas to current OEM antenna and 1 aftermarket. Test & Report.
Step 10 - source out media trim bezel from base model to cut and place new controllers

There is more parts I'm sure I'm going to need along the way.

This is a test in progress so Ill update it as I go. I'm still searching for pin out diagrams for both head units if anyone would like to help out would be appreciated.
