XZBMW  BMW Siemens MS41 - immo off
Hello people,
at this moment I am trying to put a M52 engine in the originally M43 chassis where no transponder type EWS was implemented (1994 model year). The simplest seemed to me to use the Chipster.no MS41 flash tool to get the dump out of the ecu, then edit it to get EWS off and put it back. The car does not start though. Before starting to check all the wiring again, can anybody take a look at the files (original and immo off) if I did it right? Is that even possible to edit the software through the diagnostic K-line port? I did some research and some say that it is not possible because the dump read through diagnostic port contains RAM data. Can anyone confirm?

So, I found out that I needed to correct the checksum. At least for MS41.0 it is necessary. Will test tomorrow and if I will be successful, I will post the working dump.

Chipster should work via OBD, but be careful the Flash isnt available any longer. So if you kill it while flashing the ECU cant be repaired.
Intel Flash in MS41 has a boot ROM section, another way is to desolder the Flash put in in a TSOP44 adapter an flash it with Batronix or Galep programmer. This version is 100% working.

Find two files, one CS corrected the other no Immo no CS.

Hi, I have tried all three files - the first one, than the one with a corrected checksum from me and then the one with corrected checksum from you. None of them worked for me sad. The diagnostic system does not show the EWS error after flash, but the car does not start either.

Also in the live data I noticed that the Anti theft protection says ON instead of OFF. The green wire from EWS to DME (pin 7 on the X20 connector) is cut, so I am kind of lost in here. If it was not for the anti theft protection ON state, I'd say the crankshaft position sensor is the culprit. This way I do not know.

Hi mate, i think what u need to do is desolder the eeprom flash 29f200 read out the original data from it with miniprog using TSOP44 adapter then post the file here for immo off, if had read this flash through obd or k-line wat ever .. it usually do not read complete file.

ONLY THE CURIOUS DISCOVERS THE SECRET BEHIND IT

I made all Immo off with the desoldering method and TSOP44 adapter with Galep. But I heared from a lot of people the Chipster Flash Tool will do the same job. I can try it out (I have this tool), but it takes a little bit time, I have to order a MS41.

After the Flash the ECU should show no EWS error. With the last file I posted the CS and IMMO is removed, worked for me more than 5o times. Did you activate the programming pin too 12V+, if not the flash cant be programmed.

What about the diagnosis, what kind of faults are in the ECU stored?

Hi, thank you for your input. I have been away for several days. You might be having a good point about the programming pin. In the software description this thing was not mentioned as it should use the WinKFP procedure to do the flash. That is why I did not consider this to be an issue. I will try it with the programming pin on +12V.

The diagnostic shows no errors after flash without 12V on the programming pin though. The car cranks, but does not start.

Indeed if you dont set the programming pin to high, the ECU wont flash the new bin inside.
Proceed as follows, set pins 26, 49 and 60 (programming pin ) to +12V, power on the ECU, wait a short time, than try to flash the bin file with your tool.

Some days ago I checked the Flash Tool, you programg the total 256 Kbits, but the read only section inside the Flash will be untouched.
So if you want "Total Control", resolder it and take a TSOP adapter with a programmer.

Here's the problem, if still relevant.Don't need to program anything, do as the photo in the archive. EWS disable Immo off

RE: BMW Siemens MS41 - immo off
Thanks especially B1257, it did not come up my mind since I was used to all the newer FLASH units which do not require this programming voltage. I have not had time till today, then I wanted to at least reply to you guys but the board was not working at that time.

Will try it today and see...
