Hi,

when ISTA-P has made a measurement Plan for an Car from the F-Series to upgrade the Software on the car, it tells that a lot of Activation Codes well be processed.

Can this also done by ISTA-P (backup and restore of activation codes) or need I to get all the activation codes from a Dealer / ASAP Portal before?

To say it simple: Will the car after the update went fine work as before without any activation codes?

As long as its an software update only that does not require you to change any modules, yes it will use the old ones...

I just want to inform you, that I tested it yesterday and that everything went fine. All activation codes were successfully restored.

A quick update fo you mate, Back when I was working at the local BMW dealer,

@the F serries I never had any problem by restoring fsc codes but sometimes after programming/coding a E serie (most time E90 pre facelift) somethimes it can't restore the FSC of voice control of the CCC professional version. And by sometimes I mean really somethimes like once in 20 cars.

The reasson I dont know, never ever wanted to check it out since the voicecontrol never works properly and 99 of the 100 people who have it doesn't know they have it or they never use it.

Hmmm, good to know. Haven't tried an E series with professional nav yet, only business. F series haven't been a problem, except for some failed bootloaders which was solved by a battery reset and new programming session.

So I came across this problem that you mentioned yesterday.... Just to let you know. Have to get repair codes from dealer now.
