Read through all the thread

Got a hq 46 clone
used usbasp to program it

Had some issues with windows 10 with computer not picking up the programmer.
Tried on an older windows 7 machine and all was good.

Just search for

'Vagcom 16.8.4 full active vcds 16.8.4 DIY Vag com 16.8.4 can reprogram'

thats the cable used.
hope this helps some sturggling.

My VCDS that locked in 2012 can run now.
but , i have a question,when runs on 17.8 first time, VCDS need a internet validation for genuine.
so, what shall i do?

This device could be reprog but no programable pinout . I need to solder on MPC to upgrade ?

Read a little more connect 3 pins on mcp+1 on atmega +gnd, power it up and program it.

I know this is wrong place but I have just one quenstion :
I have read your topic about J-Link and my J-link ( china clone) is now updated to Orginal , all procedure has been successfully completed drive

( especially thanks for that topic).

whichone do you use self ??? and which one do you recommend me ??? ( i do use it for carprog uodate)
mIDASLink only works with Analog Devices chips.
SAM-ICE only works with Atmel devices.
Digi JTAG Link only works with Digi devices.
IAR J-Link can not be used with Keil MDK.
SEGGER-EDU may only be used for non-commercial purposes.

Hello
I have new VCDS, succeful write eprom and flash and ftdi for RL. But VCDS 17.8 it recognizes the device correctly but after connecting to the car constantly breaks the connection and very unstable, the problem is even with reading errors.
What could be the reason?

Did you program as hw44 or hw46?
You may have set security bits wrong.

I had the same problem as you, I used vcds 17.8.1 with vcds_loader_v2 under windows 8.1 64 bit.

Clone interface 17.1.3 (FW Version: 1.96, HW Version: 0x46)
