I checked that ATmega162 pin 1 is connected to mcp2515 pin 14, Pin 2 to pin 15 and pin 3 to pin 13. And that there are no problems with the connections. I checked them because I thought I might have shorted one of the pins. But that cannot be the case because the flash programming was fine. Do you know if they are oK ? RE: MY VCDS COLLECTION - ALL YOU NEED I HOPE - mattydr67 - 04-05-2016 Mate You have there two diffrent CAN trancivers One is TJA1050 and the other one is MCP2515 What compatibility are you talking about Check first continuity between OBD connector pins 6 and 7 to TJA1050 If this ok then change the TJA1050 itself After this if all is OK then change the MCP2515 If after this still no CAN comunication ..... there's one more thing ( this I will not tell you I will let you discover it by yourself ) But I belive that it will fix your tool Good luck RE: MY VCDS COLLECTION - ALL YOU NEED I HOPE - macNB - 04-05-2016 (04-05-2016, 21:01 PM)mattydr67 Wrote: Mate I know TJA1050 is a CAN Transceiver (made by NXP) and the MCP2515 is a CAN Controller made by MCP. MCP also make a CAN Transceiver named MCP2551 (the number is similar to 2515 for the controller). The MCP2551 is pin-compatible with TJA1050. See attached data sheet. I was asking you had come across this 2551 transceiver to replace the 1050? So I'll try replacing TJA1050 (either with another TJA1050 or equivalent MCP2551). I have ordered replacement chips. Will see next week if it solves the problem. RE: MY VCDS COLLECTION - ALL YOU NEED I HOPE - mattydr67 - 05-05-2016 (05-05-2016, 15:41 PM)macNB Wrote: Thanks matty. I'm sure you will Let us know here Good luck RE: MY VCDS COLLECTION - ALL YOU NEED I HOPE - macNB - 09-05-2016 No Joy I am afraid. Replaced the TJA1050 with MCP2551 and still get "CAN: No Ready" after plugging it into the car (Ignition on). Next, I replaced the MCP2515 with a new one. Checked all the connections. Still get "CAN: No Ready" after plugging it into the car (Ignition on). So far I have: 1. Replaced the FT232BL firmware with a BL EPT 2. Replaced the ATmega flash and is now V1.92 3. Replaced ATmega EEPROM 4. Replaced the CAN Transceiver (TJA1050) 5. Replaced the CAN Controller (MCP2515) 5. Tried VCDS 11.11.0, 11.11.5 and 12.12.0...and all give "CAN: Not Ready" what next ? RE: MY VCDS COLLECTION - ALL YOU NEED I HOPE - mattydr67 - 09-05-2016 Tested VCDS 11.11.0, 11.11.5 and 12.12.0 ?????? WOW what dump did you used mate? Is very important to use a good dump and after a TEST in a VCDS version you need to have Activated/Registred serial in ABOUT Then you can check the CAN BUS Good luck Here it is the schematic
