Mazda 6 Smoke + Banging Head - Wildey1771 - 09-11-2015

Hi All.

I have a mazda 6 in my possession. It came for a DPF remove and remap also a service.

The DPF light was flashing by the time it came in and the filter was completely blocked. Very little coming out of the exhaust.

First, Did the service, oil change ect.

Now, as soon as this was done, we started the car and it was banging loudly from the head. Injector 3 and 4 is where its coming from. It also does not idle correctly when it does it seems fine. But upon revving the engine the banging continues.

Whats been done now is this:

Full Service
Injectors Tested (All OK)
Injectors Recoded

Nothing stopped it. So I took to the Mazda Forums and found something about the flashing dpf light and what it meant. I found some information about a regeneration being interrupted and causing a loop kind of thing. Aparently the regeneration puts more fuel into injector 3+4 to heat up the manifold and such things.

So to try and fix this. We took out the filter (COMPELTELY BLOCKED UP) and did the DPF Remove map but this did not solve the issue. It carried on and now there is continuous black smoke. flashing dpf light. INjector 3+4 banging/knocking loudly and not able to idle properly.

first thing i thought was the map was not right. So some more attempts went into this and no avail.

Now. It has just come back from the Mazda Dealership.

Its had a Software Update (ECU Reprogram) and it is still the same. But no flashing lights or anything.

Ive got it down to something mechanical not electrical.

Vids of whats going on -

I am open to suggestions or something to try. I am lost with this.

Restore original map...diagnose your ecu...look what sensor dpf make error...make bypas with the good sensor...if all ok,restore the mod file

It has been to dealer for ECU Update. Map is now orig.

There is no faults. No Sensor error. Nothing.

It's very hard to say anything based on a video. But I think if injectors are ok, the car is not in regen state anymore and the rail pressure isn't too high then should be a mechanical problem.
Is this sound came after the oil change or was it present before that too?

RE: Mazda 6 Smoke + Banging Head - Wildey1771 - 09-11-2015

The vids were there just so the sound was known.

It came after the oil change.

At first the oil we put in was not Mazda specific. Which we thought of and did replace oil again with Mazda Oil.

I think it's almost sure that is a mechanical problem. Perhaps the oil pressure wasn't enough at some point. Oil specification can't be a problem (if we speaking from a good oil anyway). Oil filter can make these kind of trouble if it's not the right one (quality, not exactly the same type or some mounting problem). Or if this is a newly bought car (I mean this was the first oil change by the actual owner) then could be an earlier problem hide with some additive too. Or simply You were very unlucky in this case.

The oil filter was replaced correctly and is secure in place. Quality parts always used.

I dont understand how a simple service could result in the car having such an issue.

Right now im open to anything and will investigate...
