E60 LM2 retrofit problem with pre lci taillights - szefuncio512 - 02-09-2026 Hi, I replaced the LM1 with an LM2 in a 2005 E61. The car originally had adaptive xenon headlights, but I replaced them with standard non-adaptive LCI xenon headlights. The rear lights are still pre-LCI. After coding $522 and making a few manual coding changes, the front xenon headlights work perfectly. The rear lights also work, except for the rear position/tail lights. The rear position lights come on for about 20 seconds, then they switch off and I get an error in iDrive. I also get iDrive error messages for: position lights — they work for about 20 seconds, then switch off and an error appears brake lights — they work normally, but iDrive still reports a fault rear turn signals — they work, but flash very fast as if a bulb was missing What I’m trying to achieve is a fully working setup with: LCI front xenon headlights + pre-LCI rear lights + LM2. The main issue is getting the rear position/tail lights to stay on instead of being switched off after about 20 seconds. I didn’t change any pins when installing the LM2. I just plugged the LM2 into the existing LM1 wiring Has anyone done this combination before, or knows which LM2 coding/PWM/pin configuration settings are needed for pre-LCI rear lights? errors from tool32 --------------------------------------- Date: 02.09.2026 14:26:00 ECU: LM_AHL_2 JobStatus: OKAY Variant: LM_AHL_2 --------------------------------------- RESULT: 7 error in error memory ! --------------------------------------- A8B9 - Schlusslicht/Bremslicht rechts defekt Signal oder Wert oberhalb Schwelle Testbedingungen erfüllt Fehler momentan vorhanden und bereits gespeichert Fehler würde kein Aufleuchten einer Warnlampe verursachen Error code: A8 B9 61 --------------------------------------- A8B8 - Schlusslicht/Bremslicht links defekt Signal oder Wert oberhalb Schwelle Testbedingungen erfüllt Fehler momentan vorhanden und bereits gespeichert Fehler würde kein Aufleuchten einer Warnlampe verursachen Error code: A8 B8 61 --------------------------------------- 9CB6 - LWR-Spulenabriss kein Signal oder Wert Testbedingungen erfüllt Fehler momentan vorhanden und bereits gespeichert Fehler würde kein Aufleuchten einer Warnlampe verursachen Error code: 9C B6 64 --------------------------------------- A8C5 - Tagfahrlicht rechts defekt; RR02: Begrenzungslicht rechts defekt kein Signal oder Wert Testbedingungen erfüllt Fehler momentan vorhanden und bereits gespeichert Fehler würde kein Aufleuchten einer Warnlampe verursachen Error code: A8 C5 64 --------------------------------------- A8C3 E63/E64 bis 09/07, E65: Fahrtrichtungsanzeiger rechts vorne 2 defekt E60/E61 ab 03/07: Bremslicht rechts innen defekt RR US: Fahrtrichtungsanzeiger rechts hinten 2 defekt kein Signal oder Wert Testbedingungen erfüllt Fehler momentan vorhanden und bereits gespeichert Fehler würde kein Aufleuchten einer Warnlampe verursachen Error code: A8 C3 64 --------------------------------------- A8C4 - Tagfahrlicht links defekt; RR02: Begrenzungslicht links defekt kein Signal oder Wert Testbedingungen erfüllt Fehler momentan vorhanden und bereits gespeichert Fehler würde kein Aufleuchten einer Warnlampe verursachen Error code: A8 C4 64 --------------------------------------- A8C2 E63/E64 bis 09/07, E65: Fahrtrichtungsanzeiger links vorne 2 defekt E60/E61 ab 03/07: Bremslicht links innen defekt RR US: Fahrtrichtungsanzeiger links hinten 2 defekt kein Signal oder Wert Testbedingungen erfüllt Fehler momentan vorhanden und bereits gespeichert Fehler würde kein Aufleuchten einer Warnlampe verursachen Error code: A8 C2 64 ======================================= RE: E60 LM2 retrofit problem with pre lci taillights - Emelint - 02-09-2026 Just code out cold/hot check and report from turn signal 2 (it is BFD), turn on toggle sense resistor for rear turn signal and correct pwm for rear turn signal and rear standing lights. RE: E60 LM2 retrofit problem with pre lci taillights - dumitru.o - 06-09-2026 2005 what month? post the VIN here, it s important. you modified the month/year in the VO? you should code the module with 03/05 whatever month you have in 2005. i hope you did added (and re pinned) the wires for the xenon headlights modules as the adaptive ones have less wires......otherwise your headlights won t move up-down |
