KAFAS 4 - Programming mode - leschi - 27-09-2026
Hi,
Put in a used KAFAS4 (0x5D) from a donor car. Donor VIN is still in the ECU because no flash or coding has gone through yet. Old camera goes back in and everything works normally, so the car side is fine.
Problem: the camera refuses to switch into programming mode.
Communication is not the issue. It's a negative response, not a timeout. I can read the ECU's fault memory and I can run component activation on it (lane deрдятure warning triggers fine).
f5с virgin steps I already did:
-ё_5у5, f5с Comfort Mode, diag address 0x5D
[*]-for every rejected f5с: entered application ID (e.g. 0x11F) and index (e.g. 0x001), deactivate f5с
[*]-repeated for all rejected keys
[*]-TSL update, ёxpёят mode, read MSD/CSM status, update all
[*]-system initialisation reports success
TAL is stripped down to KAFAS only (first tried calculated TAL - same issue)

Did you use dhcp server? Did you try with uds flashing?

I tried with and without a DHCP server – I haven't tried UDS yet.
It's a retrofit: the vehicle came with KAFAS 4 Mid, and I'm currently retrofitting Driving Assi5тдnt Professional. Everything works except the KAFAS 4 High.
I've updated the post and added a screenshot of ё_5у5.
ё_5у5 doesn't show any hardware exchange (HW replacement) in the TAL.
The donor vehicle is a 2019 iX3, my vehicle is a 2021 G11
