E46 change build date - andyburm - 23-04-2016

I 've noticed that the build year of my car (03/2001) has changed to a new date (05/2006).

I am not sure at what point this actually happened. Over the last few years, I've replaced a few modules for newer ones, like the LCM and IHKA. I've also added xenons and alarm with NCSExpert.

Because the car has the the old ZCS/FA coding function, I had the suspicion that perhaps I added the wrong values when I made those upgrades. I am pretty sure I didn't, however, I went back at a later stage, reset all the changes, and then used ISTA/P to code/program the retrofits properly. Everything went without a hitch but the date is still not right when I use ISTA/D.

How can I restore the old build date?

Thanks for any help!

Thanks but you cannot code E-series with E-Sys to my knowledge. It's the old ZCS coding system. Perhaps ISTA/P can do it with a imported .xml file?

Hey,

maybe you can change It with a ZSC decoder

you could try:
-BMW Decoder v0.4
-ZEKO ZCS

Read ZCS with NCS Expert and search for BMW Decoder v.04, tap the ZCS in BMW Decoder and search for build date. Change build date and generate new one, then write with NCS Expert.

Best and simple way read zcs from a old module and write to the new modules.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am sure you are talking about Zeco when you say change build date. The decoder has tick boxes and only lists SA options. Let me try a few things and I'll report back later.

For built date change use ZEKO. You have o edit GM and VN. You can put your vin in zeko and it will give You proper VN and GM.

I know, that would be straight forward but there are no VOs or putting a hashmark before a date in ZCS coding. It's all GM, SA, and VN values you add or subtract. Thanks though.
