EVO ID5 on old NBT and No emulator required - 840i - 10-09-2016

Hello, anyone did come across the fact apparently Bimmer Tech managed to find a way to run ID5 without an emulator in F series and also the fact they are saying they can install ID5 on the 1st generation NBT. Which is surprising, CPU and other components are different, I don't see this as possible as that would require recompiling the OS, well I ain't no developer so I may be wrong...

They do sell it for an insane amount of money though (2799 USD), which is ridiculous if you ask me.

Do they have that listed on their site? Would be something interesting to see.

I have seen group buys for 2799 and that would include new head unit. For 450, they will update just software. But, they say that you will lose OTA updates and other features like traffic details.

There's a bunch of misinformation on the bimmerpost thread. They are able to upgrade EVO's only to ID5, those with an older NBT will need a hardware upgrade.
Regarding the emulator-less activation they are probably getting the NBT to accept fake FSC's generated containing the car's original VIN by overwriting the root certificate somehow.

Isn't better to have the emulator anyway so at least you have video in motion at all speed since as far as I know you still cant get vim to work over 60kmh?

Bimmertech always prefer oem activation, they can order fsc for any car vin even E30 . Thats why they say emulatorless . I know the guys in person very nice people and they try OEM solution as much as possible specially old days when CIC emulator used to be nightmare . I personally bought cic for my E60 M5 in 2011 and got oem B1 fsc for my vin . So nothing is impossible .

BTW bmw can generate fsc for any vin no matter what .

Fsc for e30.....
Cic can be script activated so no need to use emulator. Nbt emulators are cheap and works.
