BMW E60 CAS Erased - atomantmk - 03-03-2017

Car from my friend was burned but not a lot and now after car is ready engine wont start, probably CAS software I erased.
How to update software, do we need a donor or like update with WinKfp?

How did you erase it??you need to provide litle more info about this...If you have programer maybe you can read motorola in cas and post here to check the files..find new flash if corupt...many things you can do

I think you should first do a diagnosis with ISTA-D. It should tell you why the car does not start. You will also see if control units respond. And then follow up from that. Personally I doubt the heat could erase the memory, I think it could much easier melt some wiring or burn components.

As mechanic says there is no software inside, no kilometers writen but processor is still good.

You can use WinKFP expert mode to write data back

If you are still online now PM me. Send me TeamViewer, I can help you look at it.

Just like normal software update right?

Yes, normal software update to it.

Doubt it's erased though.

RE: BMW E60 CAS Erased - Node - 03-03-2017

But if its erased how can WinKFP write something to it? For that bootloader has to be functioning, but if its erased, then bootloader is gone too. But then how mechanic can know that processor is good, if it contains no software... Something is wrong here.

Programming the CAS must unplug the key

I think that mechanic wants to earn some extra money.
As I know software can be erased with special equipment but not from car or when trying to synchronise CAS for car to start.
