Xenon ford focus 2014 upgrade need advice flickering lights - scully - 26-08-2017
Hello
I have a problem
2014 focus st with standard headlights and a 150amp alternator. Have upgraded the lights to oem xenon when turn ignition on they flicker. Engine running same flickering so i changed the headlights in the ccc to gas fired. Now when car ignition is on the lights behave normally. When car is running they flicker again. Is this down to the alternator? Not powerful enough?

Unless the Alternator is faulty and not giving out enough charge then upgrading the Alternator to a higher Amp unit won't help.
If you start the engine and switch on every electrical item possible, check the voltage at the battery. It should be between 14v and 15v ( Ford smart charge systems charge higher than normal)
Probable cause is either Headlight relay not passing enough current to headlights, fuse in poor condition on the contacts or the wiring may not be up to the job.
Change the relay and fuse first, you may need to fit a higher amp fuse for the xenons as they draw higher current.
Fault can also be caused by a bad Ballast so don't rule out both sides could be faulty. Check the above first.

When changing the ccc with its it flashed bcm and ipc together
Does anybody have fuse diagrams to I.d relay and fuses so I can try higher voltages ones

You want higher amp fuse not higher volt.

Resolved. Played in ccc found correct setting
