now i get "failed to start ista. Please make sure path etc etc".

ISTA+40921 is working fine.

any clue?

Can you share screenshots and post logs?

I had some SQLite dbs corrupted.
Reinstalled them and now everything is ok.
my thoughts were going to various corrupted DLLs/registry entries etc.

Which part of the install has the DTC (fault code) data? I have installed but don't have any fault code descriptions?

Did anyone tried to load the protocol ("Vorgänge") within ISTA?
The tab stays white and prints a blank page just with the current date. The prior versions worked fine on this.
