How to tell VCM 2 clone from original - xtac1080 - 09-02-2018

Hello Cartech,

Does anyone know how to tell an original VCM 2 from a clone? I'm looking to buy an original as my Rotunda VCM died and I need a replacement. Is there specific things I can look for?

Thanks all

Look for spelling error on reverse label where the tool was assembled in Germany.

Thank you for the reply. Anything I can tell from the PCB? Seller claims it has warranty with Ford for 2 years.

Tool showed up today. Here are the PCB pictures. No mispelling on the outer shell.

Anyone know if it is legit or not?

Have you connected it to ids and checked the serial number as most clones use the same serial.

Very limited images. Bit from what I can see looks high quality I would go so far as to say possibly genuine. But would want to see many many many more images.
Inc outer cases the lead ends both side and so on.

And the top board pulls off by the way

What did you pay?

Image blur your serial if you going to post ththe outer case images

Sorry for the delay, here are the pictures. I paid $1200 from a user on eBay. He also sells IDS subscription for 1 year for around $700. How do I tell if the serial is legit or not? I was able to connect to our 2018 Ford trucks with the latest legit IDS. No troubles updating PCM or changing settings/viewing live data. Wireless function uses a D-Link DWA-131 USB adapter on both ends.
