FG Tech BMW e39 540i - mapkrk - 21-02-2018

Hi guys,

I was trying to chip my e39. I got a file from a German website. I have Galletto 4 and FG Tech for flashing ECU. However when was writing a modified file I got a message that "Checksum is not supported". At that point I didn't now that I shouldn't have kept on writing it on. I messed up and bricked my ECU. I've sent original and modified files for checksum correction and I got corrected file back. I've tried flash the ecu with my new file but I'm getting same error that checksum is not supported. Is there any way I can upload old original file or modified one somehow? Is there any other software which would work with galletto 4 (clone) properly ? Any help would be appreciate ! Thank You !

Do you have bdm read?

You should be able to write the original file back as that should has checksum corrected

forget the modified file at this stage

you are lucky you still have comms to ecu at all

I have tried the original file but I can’t write it back, getting same error.

Which DME is it? M5.2, M5.2.1, ME7.2? There are boot mode methods for some of those.

You probably flashed a different software version partial file.

You might be able to recover with BMW tools like WinKFP.

I was able to read the file by fg tech. I sent it to tune guy and I got a modified file back. I was able to carry on a first flash with checksum not supported but when I was trying to flash again with my original file I couldn’t do it. Message send file to fg tech was popping on and it didn’t even start doing anything.

It’s me7.2 I believe.

I do have icon next and connected to ista p but it want me to adjust values for injector so I didn’t reprogrammed. Never done it before.

I have upload 3 files , original, tuned and checksum ok. Each one is 64KB. I was wondering if they are corrupted or something. I have previous experience flashing my 525d files were around 1024KB.

Is there any chance someone can have a look at those please ?

Just came to mind before logging off for tonight, did you have at least 13.5V battery power while flashing?

I connected a battery charger but it was showing 12V something (12.5-12.7V) now I can recall that FG TECH asked me to make sure the voltage is at least 13V.

RE: FG Tech BMW e39 540i - 8baller - 23-02-2018

BMWs sensitive to voltage, but the error message you had was checksum not supported right? not voltage related

looks like this is ME7.2? there is boot mode option for it, luckily for you as the other 2 ECUs there isnt

it seems you connect like this:

then ground boot pin

if you have no comms then you may aswell remove ECU, open it and atleast show us the hardware configuration

PS - files are not corrupt, you had a bad flash
