For anyone who had already tried to update to ETKA 8.1 and can't finish the setup, here is a possible solution.



!!! Before you start please make a backup of you ETKA Folder !!

1. Prerequisite:  The folder "C:\ETKA\PROG\IX\" is available in your ETKA Folder.

2. Copy the contents of the folder "C:\ETKA\PROG\IX\PROG\"   to   "C:\ETKA\PROG1\" and overwrite the existing files.

3. Copy the contents of the folder "C:\ETKA\PROG\IX\DATA\"   to   "C:\ETKA\DATA\" and overwrite the existing files.

Now ETKA 8.1 should start without any problem. Maybe the solution for missing user data has to be done now.

Thanks! Followed the instructions but still ETKA on my laptop (W10 32-bits) does not update to 8.1, with the same error message (no ETKA 8 found). Any further suggestion would be much appreciated.

EDIT: Update to 8.1 successful! Not sure how it happened exactly but after following the above instructions and still getting the "no Etka8 found" error I re-ran the update exe from Etka 7.5 to 8 which was saved in my back-up files, but I did cancel the final installation step for fear of corrupting the program. Low and behold, after restarting Etka it appeared to be the updated version 8.1. 

I then ran into the issue mentioned in Post #121 (User Identification / Login Data) and fixed that with Planet-Fireball's instructions. Many thanks for that again!

All is well for now - I hope it may be of some help to those of us who face the same issue.

That is exact the same thing I did just a few minutes ago, and it seems to work out...at the moment the VW database has updated to 1242 and the Revision is 8.1 - looks good so far
