Volvo dash lights and windows not working - snyper - 15-05-2018

Good day gents and ladies,

I have a bit of a problem with a Volvo. It is a very wierd car, this one.
A client brought in a volvo whose CEM was messed up by some key programmers. He had been advised to purchase a new set, key, CEM and ECU.
However, the dashboard lights and windows were not working. I quickly concluded that the CEM needed replacing with one with the exact part number. this was because it could not be read of codes using a diagnostic tool.
I bought one off eBay, delivered from Chicago, a used part.

On installation, the dash worked well, and the windows worked, but it required programming. So since I never wanted to go into soldering, I just switched the chips, immo chips.
Now only the engine check light comes on. the windows are not working and am back to square one, the car starts though.

Any light thrown on is very welcome.

regards

Snyper

I returned the chip to the old BCM, still no dash lights apart fromthe engine check light, and no power to the windows

Hi, sorry, took long, not been around.

I wish to make some clarification. The only thing I changed was the ECU kit; the engine computer, the transmission computer and the Central Electronic Module, I never touched the dash.
What I did was since the car was starting well, but not dash lights and window power, I thought the CEM was fried, I purchased a new CEM, swapped the chip holding the immobilizer data into the new CEM, once I did that, the it went back to being what I was earlier, engine starting, but no dash lights and windows, only EML.

Thanks alot for your assistance mate. The problem was the CEM was with a different software version from the Instrument cluster. it was causing a 'crash' if I may say so. So, to solve this, since I had no VIDA subscription, I purchased a new set; IPC and CEM from the same car. Car started fine.
