BMW F10 steering rack EPS stopped working - 4823E2 internal error - benoos - 05-06-2018
Hi, I need help.
EPS (steering rack) in F10 2010 stopped working. There is permanent error in EPS 4823E2 (internal error - software) and also one coresponding in ICM like (steering torque from EPS).
EPS has a good Voltage, fuse 43 is OK, elektric motor looks OK, EPS module can be coded and programed.
ISTA/P says there is no update to EPS.
I re-flashed EPS and ICM with Esys (the same software thru changing SVTist), VO coded, but no results.
EPS start-up fails because of internal error.
Is something more I can do or should I looking for new EPS?

He says he did. Internal error cant be rectified by software intervention. Replace!!

I had same problem on same car when eps was replaced from other car and never fix it..after one week of flashing and coding buy new one

Thanx for answers.
The problem is only in motor (electric engine) ? Or I have to change whole completed rack.
I know from BMW cant buy only new motor, but I think about used one.

Best to buy whole rack, even if used. I am not sure the motor can be safely removed?

I'm afraid you need another rack ..new or used, does not matter. Just be sure that it's right part for your car and if you have additional battery in trunk (small one, near the car's battery), than you need 24v rack.

No problem to change only motor, but there is a problem to find the right one (from the the same rack). There are few version looking similar, even from RL cars, but it wont work.
I replaced whole rack, coded and it works
