F20 Retrofit used Kombi2 - hkgans - 22-06-2018

Hi,

I'm retrofitting a 6WA Gen3.1 Kombi2 for F20, however I couldn't find the eeprom 35160WT on the backside of the circuit board. Is there anyone knows if the EEPROM is on the front side (the needle side)? The new Kombi2 has a different needle structure that I'm not able to remove them fearing those needles would break easily. Is there anyone knows how to remove the needles if I have to access the front side?

Am I missing something here in the yellowish-white connector?

But how to safely remove needles? I was using the technique to remove needles of previous generation 6WA, but I almost broke one of the needle at the coin shape circle plastic at the center, still couldn't 'lift' it. fail

I made this retrofit with a brand new Kombi2 (no need to flash the eeprom), but you will see that this Kombi empedes the car to sleep. The Kombi2 is not compatible with old FEM generation.

Do not have 351650WT its 35128WT and if it is used you'll need the Enigma to change the vin on the eprom its do only one that can you do it ?

Yes, you need to lift them. And you will get 35128 eeprom, you will need other then r270 programmer for it. When i did it, i broke one gaudge and fixed it with glue after all.

Kombi2 normally works with old FEM 2012 year f20 car.

Did you update the entire car to the same i-level as the Kombi2? I have friends with 2012 F20 car that are using this kombi2. They don't have any problem.

How did you remove those needles? The soft plastic 'cover' at the centre is very flimsy and I had broken part of it already.

Are you using 35128wt emulator? I searched the web and found some vendors that are selling 35128wt emulators and one of the claimed their emulator can be programmed using ordinary programmer but I have yet to ask if R270 can do or not.

Finally removed needles with some brutal force and using a sharper tool.

And removed all 3 needles:

After flipping up 2 more connectors of LCD and cruise control indicator the entire PCB can be released.

I can confirm that the EEPROM is 35128WT instead of 35160WT so my R270 didn't work on it.

Need to find a way to write my VIN. Is there any 'cheaper' tool similar to R270 that can deal with?

Hello!

You can use a Diagprog MK2 USB. it can read out 35128WT and also the needed emulator (also from Diagprog).
