embedded SIM swap from TCB to ATM - mcrussell - 12-07-2018
Has anyone successfully swapped the embedded sim Chip from a TCB to an ATM? I have got the SIM removed & soldered to the ATM but cannot get a connection to BMW Services, the soldering looks good but ATM shows old sim imei no. in ECU functions & emergency calls only.

I think even you have the 3G/4G data connection to BMW servers, there is a VIN filtering for ConnectedDrive services.
If you change ATM VIN that it has 4G data activated, services are stoped by BMW servers -
For imei, must check how to change it in the rom. It’s not real time read by the Ecu, but stored

Thanks for the reply, i have flashed ATM with my vin & 3G card from TCB had active services. I have coded the ATM for 3G use.
Not sure if soldering is not good or another issue as “Update BMW Services“ option is greyed out on EVO & gets not received in car from Connected Drive

Well, IMEI is "equipment identity" so its not stored in sim, but in the ATM itself.

Custom Retrofit are doing this retrofit, might be worth talking to them.

Adrian (custom retrofit owner) told me that he is developing a new version of his ATM emulator with a build-in data SIM card for CD services connection.
It would be a real good thing

Quick update guys, I managed to reflow the chip & got connection to Connected Drive, RTTI, email, news & gps tracking all works fine but I cannot get remote services to unlock the car or activate the aux heating, customer service are saying everything’s set up correctly.
Could it be possible the IMEI of the ATM is preventing these services as it wouldn’t match what’s on file at BMW even though the ICCID of the sim is correct?
Does anyone know if the IMEI can be changed in the ATM to match what the TCB IMEI is?
