BMW ISTA P single module coding - lions_ve - 20-09-2018

Hello guys,

I really need your support about an issue I have with a BMW X1 coding.

To keep it short, client came to the garage and explained that they robbed his house and they stole the second key of the car.

Based on the VIN number and owner authorization I ordered a brand new set of keys with new CAS module from BMW.

Installed the new CAS on the car and then I was able to start the engine and lock/unlock. Only problem are ABS , Airbag lights etc and while checking the DTCs I found that CAS module has a newer coding version than DME.

Opened ISTA-P and started to code & update the SW but before doing that I got the message that I need to replace MASK-AGGREGAT (radio BO & GW) module before proceeding with CAS and DME update. Customer is using an aftermarket Radio module and the system does not probably recognize it.

I tried to skip this replacement and proceed with the rest but it was not possible to do single module coding in that car.

Any ideas on how to finalize the coding?

Thanks!

When you start up ista-p it will/should ask you if you like "full" or "partial" programming. Select "partial" this will exclude the media components. Then you should be able to proceed.

Just wondering, why was not just the "missing" key deleted/disabled?

If it does not let you do anything and if it forces you to replace radio first, try to remove wiring from radio or maybe you could modify FA and delete it.

Just proceed in plan and when ISTA ask about radio, then just continue. It will ask maybe three times and then will do the rest

Does that apply to other modules?

Are you sure that you get this kind of question on newer models? I havent seen it so far!

Initially I disabled the missing key but keep in mind that they can unlock the car with the metallic part of the key and take everything from inside or just replace CAS and get the car.

How can you modify FA?

I will try without the cable and I will let you know!

I already tried to do that, but ISTA just keeps on throwing me in a loop of replacing the radio. It seems very weird that entertainment has such a priority as DME.

this option started after a certain ISTA-P version, not sure which...
there you are able to exclude the whole media system (MOST) from the measurement plan if you choose partial programming in the beginning
I guess this would be the simplest solution for your problem...

Do You have ISTA-P in Expert mode?

Yes, I am using expert mode. But when I tried to ' uncheck ' the RADIO ECU replacement from the measure plan it was not allowing me!

It does not work. ISTAP will not proceed if there is anything it is unhappy about, no matter how insignificant the ECU is. Tried that been there. If it asks for a replacement, you are dead in the water without a replacement happy
