If it is SW12 and lower, you can do mileage on the bench with bmw scanner, but you may need 1Khz signal generator. If it is SW13, it is bit more complicated. Most of tacho generators cannot generate properly higher values than up to 200tkm.
Best is to virginize the unit and code in the vehicle, so it grabs mileage and VIN from the vehicle.
