So the only solution is buy the MR solution right?
So this means that you can execute diagnostics and to erase dtc's, make equipment tests, ect, but for any configuration, special function, flashing (aka telecoding) you must go only on-line with valid diagbox license..........
This include any car even the older and very older ones...........
So the best thing is to have somewhere the 07.57 because is the last version that can do off-line telecoding and support cars till around end of 2014 and then you can decide if you will use MR for simply diagnostics jobs as explained since 09.23 support cars till around middle of 2018 or to have the diagbox EU edition and to paying
your Token/s when only you need........... 
Diagbox EU edition (aka POI) support all the cars from around 2008+
