Problem programming BMW CAS3+ Encrypted key with VVDI2 - Batje - 31-01-2019

Hi,

I'm using VVDI2 and VVDI prog to make all kind of BMW keys.
So far it's a great tool, been using it now for 3 months and really not had any problems with it.
But when i program a key for a CAS3++ (CAS3+ encrypted version) i get a fault in the CAS module every time.
Other CAS modules like CAS3 and CAS3+ ISTAP version work fine without faults.

It gives an error on the CID and a A0AA CAS: Control Unit fault in ISTA.
The programmed key starts the car just fine but every time you start it with the new key it gives a fault.

It's in Dutch on the picture but it says something like "Engine starting malfunction! Close and reopen the drivers door. Remove key fob and insert it again in the slot."

The error on the CID goes away if you delete the fault memory with ISTA however the A0AA fault still remains in fault memory. The car operates just fine with this fault stored.

Anyone has some experience with this? or should i just contact Xhorse for help?

Thanks!

No, VVDI2 doesn't need downgrade for cas3++ only for the ISTAP version.
Downgrade for ISTAP versions gives no error.

You can restore flash back to original and problem solved

Thanks for your answer.

So VVDI2 damages the flash during the procedure?
That's really shitty..

So if i understand right i have to backup the flash before programming a key and restore the flash after programming?
Only the flash needs to be restored right so the new key will still work i imagine as long as i don't restore the original eeprom, correct?

all thouse programers like vvdi, cgdi, etc program the cas with bunch of creap to be able make the key..thats why you uswaly end with funy errors like yours,int.error..etc you can restore cas to backup state or reflash it with Kfp is the fastest way

Thanks guys!

I will flash the CAS with winKFP next time.

I've used winkfp before but have not yet flashed a CAS..
Just to be clear:
update zusb in winkfp and right before pressing the program button remove key from slot, right?
I'm using an official ICOM Next and ediabas is already properly set up for it.
Will it work OK because i've read some horror posts about CAS update failing with ICOM?
