ICOM 2 PROBLEM - Ecutech - 19-05-2019

Hello guys and girls,

Been using my ICOM on lots of <2006 vehicles with  no problem. Tried to connect to a 2008 and i get no kl15. Im aware older vehicles get kl from pin 1 and newer cars the signal is can from the cas.

Does anybody know the actual fault on the pcb? Something that can be re worked maybe?

Many posts about this but nothing except buy another in the hope it works or just buy the NEXT.

Has anybody information on this?

Would like to try and fix if possible.

Cheers

Chris.

Often the OBD connector itself faulty.
Have you tried it in another car?

RE: ICOM 2 PROBLEM - Ecutech - 19-05-2019

Thanks for your reply Vojno. I have not had time to test for continuity yet and no other bmw in yet either. The car i was trying to connect to was fine on my other tools so i have ruled out a problem with the car. Comms light works for 2 seconds then fails as cant see kl. Same in ista d/p, inpa etc...I will test the cable as you say. Most posts about this it always seems to be a component problem...but i guess nobody has yet figured out exactly what it is.

I guess the problem is can, 6 and 14 contacts obd.
Check the integrity of the lines from these contacts to the transceiver VP234.
On the bottom board there is a small drosel and it is often the cause.
May cause a protective diode,
If the lines are intact, replace VP234.
