 Mercedes Engine....  Does IMMO off work on these??

It is indeed the Mercedes engine (OM642) and Bosch (EDC16CP31 ) ECU.

I have been struggling to fix this Jeep for several months now.

If it helps, it uses the same type of keys that Chrysler used through their line up in 2008. The FOBIK key.

Basically, I bought a used ECU from another Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel and ktag flashed it with the original ECU files.

But the engine won't start, I get the RED LED on the dash flashing and message that says "Programming active".

Make new key I think is ID46 fvdi or vvdi

I have 2 factory keys that turn the ignition on but not start the motor. Can I add a third (new blank key) using the traditional technique of adding the third key?

Did you program eprom and flash with original files ?

Learning new key is explained in both tools no doubt someone will be along soon who has made key for this car
