Audi B8 3G high japanese to ECE radio not working - Euroautonz - 17-08-2019
Hi Team,
I have converted an Hnav from japanese to HNav_EU_K0257_6_D1 succsefully.
However, that doesn't change the Japanese frequencies, but the radio works fine.
We have attempted to do the following
Green Menu -> radio
change frequencies to European, the MMI reboots and we get the full frequency range, however, there's only a hissing noise and no radio.
If we change the frequency back to Japanese, we get our radio back, but with limited frequencies.
From what I have been reading, something needs to be changed on the EEPROM through VCDS, but cannot find any info. There's only a VCM script for USA, not Japanese import.
Edit: With further testing I have discovered that when changing the region for fm to Europe, the signal strength is between 0-5db, while in Japanese region mode it is around 30db, with the same antena.
Anyone have any luck with the above?

So with lots of gooling I found the following

000000?: Radio Configuration
1 = Europe
2 = North America
3 = Japan
4 = Australia
5 = South America
6 = South Africa
7 = Asia
However, when I go to the module I have options to either enter a 5SN or a 7SN code to do coding.
I hav ebeen advised that OBD11 could do this anyone have any experience?
Also I am getting a VVDI2, does anyone know if that can read the code?

Try obd11 us to eu...result should be same...byte 00 must be 01 after coding...link you provided should be for mmi 2g i guess, not for 3g etc...

Without proper login don't work. Even obd11 don't help.
You don't need special interface, you need knowledge how to do it.

So my VVDI2 Xhorse tool came.
I can get the follwoing
VAG Number: 4G0035083
HW/SW Version: H50 0055
Long Coding: 030005020100000001
Systen description/Type: Radio U JP
Based on googling the first byte
03 - Japan (i guess as I can't find info)
02 - USA
01 - EU
Got this info from
Long coding, 56 radio:
01 = AM/FM EUR (02 USA)
01 = DAB (fixed value) (00 sirius USA)
03 = Operating Mode
01 = External Amp (02 if the amp is inside, e.g.: not B&O)
00 = Sound Profile
00 = No info
00 = No info
00 = No info
01 = Chassis
So The issue is when I try to change the first byte to 01, I get coding error. Anyone have any advice how to change the first byte, or do i need to change ECU firmware before this is possible?

As I wrote before no need special interface.
Without combination of security login, you never change region. Always will be coding error.

you need read eeprom from radio in the back eeprom is 24C256N. if you need help txt me
