Solved ✔ EEPROM reading - Rick_Tdi - 10-10-2019 Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to R/W an EEPROM from a IC. It is mandatory to desolder the EEPROM for reading, or it can be read directly from PCB with the clip adapter? Thanks. RE: EEPROM reading - Ecutech - 10-10-2019 In general its considered best to always remove eeprom from the circuit to minimise the possibility of corrupt data. RE: EEPROM reading - Rick_Tdi - 11-10-2019 If the EEPROM is read from PCB, is there a way to verify that the file is corrupted? RE: EEPROM reading - Clusters - 11-10-2019 Not until it is too late. Some can be corrupted merely by trying to read them, specially with cheap programmers and inexperienced users. RE: EEPROM reading - Rick_Tdi - 11-10-2019 So in other words, with a clone Digiprog 3 is better to desolder before doing anything. RE: EEPROM reading - Clusters - 11-10-2019 And save a backup of the original using the eeprom menu before trying to change anything. Don't join the "I need a good dump" club. RE: EEPROM reading - Rick_Tdi - 11-10-2019 Haha! Don't worry, I understand what you mean! Last question, does it's better to solder a new EEPROM or keeping the old one? RE: EEPROM reading - Clusters - 11-10-2019 The old one is fine, I have never changed an eeprom. Unless you are working with some 35080. And I see you are fairly new here.... RE: EEPROM reading - Rick_Tdi - 11-10-2019 Yes I'm fairly new in dashboard. I used to do ECU mapping. Thanks!
