G31 A/C compressor doesn't engage - AlpinWeiss2k18 - 06-07-2022

Hello,

The compressor does not engage, following the diagnosis I have absolutely no error on the air conditioning system. The outdoor temperature sensor and HVAC indicate well. I checked the wiring from BDC to the compressor, I tested another panel and another IHKA module, I replaced the compressor. I update all car with ista at 03-22. If I manually give it 12v to the clutch, the compressor starts, but still blows cold.
Any ideas?
Thank you!

Check what the pressure sensor shows. If the pressure in the system is too low then the air con will never turn on.

With old compressor 6-7bar.
Now with the new compressor show 9-10bar with ac off.

That sounds over the roof. Those kinds of pressures should be on high side with AC on full. I think IHKA could just be trying to "protect" the system from "overpressure". If you changed the compressor so you have filling equipment you can easily compare pressures shown by gauges to ones measured by sensors. Either that or the system is seriously overfilled like 10 times too much. Could also be very heavy blockage in the system. What are your gauges measuring on high and low?

I don't have the equipment, after replacing the compressor I went to a specialized workshop for emptying and filling. They told me that everything was fine on the air conditioning system and that they put as much as indicated on the label.

You should really buy at least a single gauge to measure actual pressure if working on AC. It is very cheap. But as you already fired a HUGE parts cannon without any diagnosis or reason you might just replace the pressure sensor as well biggrin

However should you want to do a proper diagnosis even a single gauge can do wonders as the only sensor is installed on the high pressure side. And knowing pressure on the low side is critical for any real diagnosis.

Thank you very much!
