Range sport 2020 displaying wrong vin - deutsch - 26-10-2022

Hi all,

I’ve got a 2020 Range Rover sport that has been stolen and recovered.
While it was stolen then vin was changed. Upon the car being recovered it was discovered the vin has been edited in the cluster so that when checked it looked ok and matched the new identity. I have now changed this back to the correct and original factory vin.
Upon further inspection and scanning the car it has been found that the incorrect vin shows up on the scanner but the scanner cannot communicate with any module other than the abs.
I do know of a device that can block communication and show any vin that you tell it to but on this car I can not find it.
The bcm looks like it has been open but does not looked tampered with inside. I suspect that the bcm has been altered to block communication and to show the vin the thief’s wanted it to.

Has anyone had any similar situation to this where the bcm has been tampered with to block communication and display another vin.

Thanks in advance

If you use Pathfinder program for diagnose you can see VIN number in every ECU and decide what ECU was changed. Also need to verify VIN in CCF
