Golf Mk5 - Cluster Swap - SOLVED - spooky75 - 06-02-2023
Hello everyone,
I want to swap cluster on old Golf Mk5 My2004, but I'm fast with VCDS procedure.
I can't get it work
Old cluster: 1K0920850K VDO from2004 (Have PIN, tested to logon)
New cluster: 1K0920870K VDO from2004 (Have PIN, tested to logon)
Procedure:
0. Installed donor cluster into car
1. Login to module 25-Immobilizer with PIN from donor cluster (OK)
2. Read channel 050 in adaption and wait 5 minutes until "Immobilizer Adaptation active" is changed to "Immobilizer active" otherwise I can't get "Immobilizer Adaptation active" message.
3. Read channel 050 again and enter PIN from old (original) cluster, getting answer "Pin ?" or "System Not OK" after Test. IMMO turn off for 2-3 seconds and activates again.
4. Try to Save and switch OFF the ignition and let the car sit for ~1 minute, but without success
Any idea what I'm doing wrong ?

Here immo4 is used, it is not possible to customize only with PIN as on generation immo2,3.
Need to transfer immodata using a suitable tool via OBD.

Try with another key in ignition if you have more than one.

Have two keys and tested with both. Same result.

Are you checked meas blocks in 25 groups 1,2,3. Clear dtc's in engine if you have. In immo 3 this error (system not ok) sometimes is is solved by reset cluster with channell 00 before go to 50th. But i am not sure if here 00 is available.

i switched immo off in golf 5 tdi ecu but in cluster i had immo active and safe so i removed the cluster and read the eeprom, now heres where i got stuck, a member here jumped onto my laptop through teamview and modified the dump with carprog, i honestly don't know the procedure but i think it is explained on codecard site, dash was perfect after that

Don't have DTC on engine.
Tested to reset cluster (17) and immo (25) on channel 00 before channel 050 on immo, still "System not OK".

I'm not sure that I want IMMO off, I will keep old cluster if I can't swap it with VCDS or ODIS.

Is that ecu software touched by someone?
I dont have more ideas, swap immo, for these clusters is very easy. Even working key is not required.
