TMS FRM3 F10 Coding issue - mj_mj_mj - 20-02-2023

Hi everyone, have had this as a bit of a nutbuster and haven´t found a solution yet . Found a couple of posts with same issue but never one that contains the solution. Backstory - car with flooded headlights borh sides. New original headlighs and used TMS modules purchased.

Steps taken so far .

Flashed and coded FRM via Esys.
Tried initilization via ista+  (says tms module needs to be new)
Tried tms_id_off via FDL coding.
Programmed entire car with ISTA+ to latest I-level.

Issue is that ista rejects used tms modules and I cant inject cafd´s thru esys as I have done in the past without issue, the tms modules are not in the tree as the are not "own" modules on cars with frm. You cant inject CAFD in tms units as these are connected to FRM3 via linbus.

I have found information that you can use tool32 to be able to write new id´s, both ids are 0213 as of now on the tms but havent found complete info about it yet. Tried coding them to FFFF in tool32 but the only figures it seems to accept is 0213 which it already has.

Does anyone know if it is possible to
1) Virginize the used TMS units ? (I´m thinking the bmw standard tools equivalent to "code default values")
2) Correct the info in them so that ISTA accepts them?

Any input highly appreciated!

We need more information. Give us Vin number or at least tell us is it LCI or PreLCI, was FRM changed, headlights are the same as they was from factory?

All is OEM factory, no retrofits and no changes. FRM still original to car.
No error codes except initialization error. Wiring good.
Vin is WBAMW51050C697673

HI,

could you please post the exactly error message?
Car has Xenon with AHL and part number fits to Xenon with AHL - as you said.
Are you sure, that they worked before?

I never had any issues with used TMS in preLCI car. In these TMS you don't have to code anything. Just use ISTA to teach in. Are you 100% sure these TMS are original and fully working? Recently I had chinsiese clone of same TMSes as yours and they looked like original but they didnt work.
Is there a problem with both sides?

if you installed used TMS, you must force reflash them with ESYS, ISTA+ may not work.

He made this already:

Flashed and coded FRM via Esys.

TMS isn’t possible to flash and this car, TMS didn’t appear in ESys.
