RE: ISPI NEXT TOOL - TibeRiuSca - 13-07-2015

I think 4Gb of RAM is also require for ISTA/P.

RE: ISPI NEXT TOOL - jal1234 - 13-07-2015

Using Beta 3 tool, I can't install the 3.56.1.002 update to ISTA/P. Gets almost through, then rolls back to the previous version. Logs indicate a fingerprint error of some sort. Any ideas what I can do to make it work? Previous version starts after the roll back, but I have to approve a bunch of firewall changes.

ISTA/P wants 4gb, about 185 gb of disk, and a 1.8+gHz dual core processor, or 3.6gHz single core. The .msi can be modified to run on less processor and 2gb, but it will be slower. Seems ok on a 1.7gHz dual core. The msi basic requirements seem to account for more cores and threads per core in calculating whether or not it will install.

I've also not been able to get the Beta 3 fix for DSS #00046632EN to work. It copies the files to C:\BMWTOOL, then throws an Unhandled Exception in .NET framework. If I manually unpack and copy the SQLliteframework files, ISTA/D works ok.

4GB... Really? :/

Well, that's great!
Then I can start over for the third time, by installing Windows 8 on a laptop I just ran a factory reset on, since ISPI/ISTA can't run(/be installed) on Windows 7 x64!

ISPI next works on both 32/64 bits windows 7/8/8.1/10.
Make sure to install all windows updates before or at least all .net updates

Yeah, it works fine on my Windows 7 laptop, except ISTA/D, since it's missing the SQL files.
And the only way I know hot to get them, is by running the "ISTA_DAT_3.49.10_BIGPACK.exe" file which can't run in 64bit, since it's 16 bit.
(Can't tell you the exact error, since I ran the factory reset)

My Windows 8.1 Pro laptop is fully updated and .NET Framework 4.5 is installed.
I have even tried to download the installer and install it, where it tells me that 4.5 is already part of the operating system, and that the same or newer version is installed.

So I can't do anything more.

EDIT: Even the 4.5.2 offline-installer tells me that the same or a later update already is installed...

Don't run Bigpack, extract the files inside with 7zip.

As long as you have the right configuration, ista d will install and update the database automatically as soon as you open ista d after the msi is installed. Otherwise you can use 7zip to extract the databases then copy them manually.
You cannot just right click and install the bigpack.exe file since it's not an actual executable file

I didn't think it was possible to do with a .EXE-file?

Am I misunderstanding something here...
.EXE is executable, right? :P

- And to both of you:
It is too late, since I already did a factory restore on the Win 7 laptop.
So now i only got my Win 8.1 laptop with 2GB memory.
But on Wednesday i will get 2x 2GB memory from a friend.

I also managed to find the DB-files in the earlier mentioned "ISTA_DAT_3.49.10_BIGPACK.exe" file, which I found in "ISTA_DAT_0025_3.49.10.istapackage".
So when ISTA/P gets installed, including all updates, etc., i should be ready to use ISTA/D.
Don't know if I can use ISTA/D without P installed, but I don't want to do or try anything before everything is installed correctly.

RE: ISPI NEXT TOOL - jal1234 - 13-07-2015

7zip can open some exe files, basically ones that are self extracting files. In this case, yes, 7zip opens it. The files are compacted several times, and you have to keep unpacking until you get to the database files, and even those are zipped.

RE: ISPI NEXT TOOL - gmros - 13-07-2015

Everything works great.
what's the password to open the file istap-dat with 7zip? i want to extract the daten for the ncsexpert.
